From the book's Foreword
When I came to Montana, which then was
a territory with no railroads, reading
matter of any kind was scarce. Where
there's nothing to read, men must talk, so when
they were gathered at ranches or stage stations,
they amused themselves with tales of their own or
others' adventures. Many became good story-
tellers. I have tried to write some of these yarns
as nearly as possible as they were told to me.

This book is similar to Trails Plowed Under. Russell has a caracter called Rawhide Rawlin
as the teller of his coeboy tall stories. Many of the tales have illiatrarions by Russell
depcting the event relating to the tale.
I would recomend this book to any one who does not have Trails Plowed Under.
This book had alot of the same stories as Trail Plowed Under, but that was ok. Trails Plowed under had alot more stories in it.
