This is the kind of companion I need to keep me on track when reading the Leduc novels. I discovered Cara Black a few weeks ago and have been devouring the novels as fast as I can. The Companion reminds me of who the main ongoing characters like Morbier and Yves are, and how their lives change from novel to novel. It helps me to keep the characters in a particular novel straight in my mind. Since I have not visited or lived in Paris, the maps are a fun way to familiarize myself with the city. I imagine that one who knows Paris would enjoy the "travelogue" of areas and restaurants they may have frequented. The Companion is a great adjunct to reading the Cara Black novels and a good idea for any book.Product details

Since my college French is very rusty, I was hoping to have more French/English interpretation. However, it was very helpful in keeping some of the characters straight. There is still that big question about Aimee's past life and why it all happened. Doesn't really make one trust the French police and establishment very much!
This book would be great just for a review of all the plots and people - and for a glossary of all the French terms Black uses. (My high school French classes avoided all slang.) The book summarys are excellent; rating the restaurants and hot spots is a huge plus. I am going to Paris this summer and look forward to following the stilletos of Detective LeDuc. Great book. So glad it was witten!
I love Cara Black's books and did enjoy seeing a list of characters but the maps were less than helpful. (the ones in each individual volume were better for me) I did not think that there was enough info to get me caught up in the stories. That said, I was glad that I saw the book. Can't wait for the next story.
it is supposed to be a sort of guide to Leduc books but, the Paris maps that are in the book are of very little help. The scale is to smalll and they are difficult to read. I bought the book to be able to follow tha action in Paris and knowing better the different arrondisments. But it is very difficult to read the maps.
Very helpful for the first half of the series, because there are many characters! It was great to be able to "review" who was who and what was what! But.... the series has six new titles already and it would be wonderful to have an updated version!
As a dedicated lover of both Paris and Cara Black's books, I loved this book. It has helpful precis of each book through #11 or #12 and lists of both characters and locations from the books. I plan to use it this coming Fall to visit many of the locations. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I need an update for later books!
This book was recommended to me by a friend when I mentioned that I'd just picked up one of the books from the series. What's wonderful about this companion volume is that it's written by an copy editor/fan of the series and not the author, which says a lot about the devotion the series inspires. There's much essential information that will make newbies to the series feel right at home, especially if you just want to dive into the books, instead of starting with the first book and working your way forward.
