Since Isabelle’s been able, she’s had to take care of her father and their home. She cooks, works to help with bills and groceries, while he gambles his money away to his addiction. She often feels like she’s the adult and he’s the child and Isabelle longs to be taken care of for a change.
When Isabelle and her dad are forced to flee into the night, they show up on Wyatt’s doorstep. He takes them in, no questions asked, once Isabelle’s dad reminds Wyatt how much he owes to her family.
At only 17, Isabelle’s never been in love and never been kissed. She rarely stays at a school long enough to even make friends, never mind form romantic attachments. But when she first meets Wyatt, she starts to feel feelings that are new to her and she quickly finds herself falling for the man who’s taken them in off the street.
Wyatt is 10 years older than Isabelle, not a huge age difference in the course of life, but the problem is that she’s not legal yet and he refuses to risk anything that could take her away from him. He tamps down his attraction to Isabelle and she starts to think that her feelings are unrequited, but once her 18th birthday finally arrives, all bets are off…
Sweet novella. The steamy scenes towards the end were very hot, but for 75% of the book, Isabelle was underage and there was no physical relationship between her and Wyatt. HEA. Standalone.
This is short and sweet novella story that I liked. At 17 Isabelle has been forced to become the parent to her father, who has a severe gambling problem. She cooks, works to help with bills and groceries, while all her dad does is gamble. She is at her wits end and Isabella prays for the day that she can be the one cared for instead of the other way around.
Isabelle and her dad are forced to flee into the night because of her dad’s issues with gambling and owing money. They end up on her dad’s friend doorstep and that is when her life changes for the good. Wyatt didn’t expect to see Isabella’s dad on his doorstep but he is reminded of owing them a debt. Wyatt is 10 years older than Isabelle which isn’t a huge difference. At first he didn’t want them there but something about Isabella made him change his mind. He felt this draw towards her –thing is, she isn’t legal yet and he is resisting the urge to take her even though she isn’t legal. Isabella feels the draw towards Wyatt too.
This is such a great novella about taboo feelings, steamy scenes and sweet love. About 80 % of the book there wasn’t any sex scenes but the rest of the book after that, was HOT! I loved Wyatt and Isabella together. They were good together. I do wish I saw how they were months or at least 1 year or so down the road. I like knowing how they were working out. Otherwise, great read.

Gahhh!!! This was so close to a 5 star but it had so many teeny tiny typos that is was a bit distracting. Also... as great as the writing was throughout the book, some of the sex scene writing was corny and amateurish. But overall... a super fun and well done short Story! Despite my constructive criticism I really enjoyed it
If I could give this book zero stars, I would. It's that poorly written. I've read similarly themed books so it was not the younger woman, older man concept that bothered me. It's just poorly written. The 18 year old pretty much blasts everyone who lives a normal life, meaning, she's a typical 18 year old, with no depth, no substance, and not particularly bright. The little dialogue is awful. If you're going to spend your time and energy writing something, at least let it be something worthwhile. Unfortunately, I cannot take back the time I spent reading it.
